Low Residency workshops 2020

1. Screen printing - B block 4th floor (6 places)

A practical introduction to screen printing, you will learn how to make a screen and print onto a variety of materials. You can bring images to use but these need to be high contrast images, for those who sign up we can discuss the options.

2. letterpress printing - letterpress room basement C block (10 places)

Letterpress is the traditional method of printing wood block and metal letters, this workshop will explore typography and traditional ways of 'setting' type and printing. This is hands-on, experimental and messy! An opportunity to have fun, getting to know the techniques used in letterpress printing. It might be worth bringing a phrase or short statement that you could use to set ad print.

1. Drawing with code - studio C134

A beginners guide to drawing with code, using the very accessible Processing. A course aimed at people who have not yet used any coding language. By the end of the day, participants will be able to understand drawing, animating and the production of generative drawing using Processing and the language of java and it's relationship with other coding languages. We will be writing code from scratch, to help the participant fully understand syntax, then hopping over to established online resources and copying whole chunks of pre written code to assemble our own complex sketches.

2. Pure Data - interactive control of sound - Jonathan's office (4 places)

This is similar but a longer version of the workshop that Ed Kelly did recently with London based students. Several online students were keen to have this option, so this is for you! However it will go further than the session in London so anyone can sign up

3. 3D printing and CNC processes - woodwork workshops ground floor B block - (4 places)

This is an introduction to the process of 3D printing, you will explore the file type requirements and the printing options for both 3D and CNC making. Both these processes take a long time so it won't be possible to print anything completely in 1 day but you will have the understanding to develop this further in the future.
